The latest job search and hiring trends
COVID-19 has brought about a lot of changes, but also with it, a lot of opportunities. Per the Brookings Institute, The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) determined that a peak in monthly economic activity occurred in the U.S. economy in February 2020, marking the end of the longest recorded U.S. expansion, which began in June 2009.
With the development of a promising vaccine, the latest research from McKinsey predicts that in the United States, normalcy is not likely until the second quarter of 2021, and herd immunity is not likely until the third quarter. In other words, the pandemic will not be vanquished soon, and businesses will continue to be challenged.
However, in August, retail rebounded (accounting for more than 17% of the 1.4 million positions filled in the month) and search habits represent a revived interest in retail jobs. A lot of other industries and professions have been on the rise as well.
According to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey conducted earlier this year, most furloughed workers will return to work:
60% of employers say they will bring furloughed workers back full time.
19% will have reduced hours.
9% will not bring all workers back.
12% has not yet decided.
