Pushing Through Self Limiting Beliefs In A Job Search

Have you been thinking...

  • I'll never get the job I want.

  • There's no way I can get into that company.

  • I'll never make the money I need to make, so I shouldn't even negotiate.

  • If I don't take this job, I might not get another chance for a while.

  • Every job is horrible, so it doesn't matter what job I take on-might as well take the first one that comes my way.

Does any of the above sound familiar?

These are self-limiting beliefs.

Why?

It all boils down to confidence (or self-efficacy). Experienced a string of negative work environments? You could be carrying that subconsciously into an interview by speaking negatively about a former workplace or boss without even realizing it. Applied to Google a handful of times, but got nowhere and stopped trying?

Stop.

It takes effort to change this type of thinking, but you can do it. Remember, no one is rejecting you because they don't know you.

There could be a number of reasons why you aren't getting callbacks if you are landing interviews. Practice interviewing using our app's video feature to see exactly how you come across.

Trust the process, trust yourself, and get help if you need it!
